Project Liberty Partners with SOAR to Transform Social Media Landscape
Project Liberty, a decentralized social media initiative, has officially established a deep partnership with SOAR.com, a suite of AI-driven data sharing and social networking platforms developed by Ancestry founder Paul Allen. This collaboration aims to give families and communities tools focused on localized engagement with government.
Supported by billionaire Frank McCourt, Project Liberty is designed to create a publicly accessible database of individuals' social connections through the Decentralized Social Networking Protocol (DSNP). Additionally, it seeks to employ cryptocurrency technology through Frequency, part of the Polkadot ecosystem. Allen noted the concentration of power in current social media platforms like X, underscoring the urgent need for decentralized alternatives.
Allen’s SOAR AI studio will include a Family Portal, originally built on Facebook with 120 million users, focusing on utilizing AI for logging familial interactions, alongside a Citizens Portal that provides searchable local government data and records. This project promises users ownership of their data, a trust often breached in current social media practices.
“Did we want this kind of an outcome with a few trillion-dollar companies controlling the internet? Not really,” Allen stated. “We must have sovereign citizenship in the future of the web, respecting our human rights in the digital world.”
The Frequency blockchain has already attracted 1.3 million users and aims to connect with an even broader audience through SOAR. Project Liberty is also a leading candidate to acquire TikTok's U.S. assets, planning to integrate its extensive user base into its decentralized structure.
On November 21-22, Project Liberty will hold its inaugural Summit on the Future of the Internet in Washington D.C.
UPDATE (Nov. 18, 13:07 UTC): Updates to Frank McCourt's investment amount in Project Liberty.
