Frank McCourt's Innovative Internet Initiative Joins Ethereum Through Consensys Collaboration
Project Liberty partners with Consensys to enhance its decentralized social media network on Ethereum.
Project Liberty, pioneered by billionaire Frank McCourt, aims to create a decentralized social media platform. This initiative is now collaborating with Consensys to enhance its functionality on the Ethereum blockchain.
The partnership, announced recently, will make Project Liberty’s Frequency blockchain compatible with Consensys' technologies, including the Linea layer-2 network and the widely-used MetaMask wallet.
McCourt emphasizes that this collaboration meets the current needs of users and suggests that the technology is ready for large-scale deployment.
Both parties see this partnership as a vital step toward reducing dependency on traditional social media giants. McCourt is particularly focused on creating a new, user-controlled social architecture that enhances user experience and promotes independence from sector monopolies. The aim is to foster an open, fairer internet that aligns with the principles of decentralization advocated by numerous technologists, including Consensys chief Joe Lubin.
In an interview, McCourt stated, "We all know how the network effect works. When you own a multitude of relationships within a closed environment, you hold significant advantages. This project aims to dismantle those barriers." His remarks underscore the importance of creating an interoperable ecosystem.
Moreover, Project Liberty is not only focusing on addressing major social media abuses but is also committed to building a better internet devoid of the pitfalls of surveillance capitalism, making it a strong ally of the burgeoning Web3 concept.
The upcoming Summit on the Future of the Internet will occur in Washington, D.C., from November 21-22. This forum will further discuss the project’s visions and applications.
