Ripple (XRP) Updates for October 16: Partnerships and ETF Prospects
Latest developments on Ripple's partnerships and the ETF landscape amidst market uncertainties.
Despite recent market volatility, Ripple has made headlines with significant new partnerships.
Ripple’s New Endeavors
This week, Ripple announced a collaboration with Immunefi, aimed at enhancing the security of its XRP Ledger network and pushing towards greater institutional use — a substantial component of Ripple’s strategy.
In another notable move, Ripple has partnered with Absa Bank in South Africa to implement Ripple’s custody technology, thereby facilitating the management of tokenized assets, which includes cryptocurrencies. This relationship not only bolsters the bank’s capabilities but also supports Ripple’s objective of integrating digital assets into mainstream financial structures across Africa.
“Last month, we announced RLUSD live on the African continent…and today so is Ripple Custody through our partnership with Absa Bank, one of South Africa’s leading financial institutions!” — Monica Long, October 15, 2025
ETF Developments
With the legal issues against the US SEC resolved, the XRP community is now heavily focused on ETFs. Data from Polymarket suggests that the likelihood of spot XRP ETFs receiving approvals by year-end is nearing 100%. However, the US regulator has yet to authorize any.
Meanwhile, Volatility Shares has filed proposals for new ETF types, including leveraged ETFs that follow the performance of multiple assets including XRP.
The community is also weighing opinions on XRP’s trajectory after a market-wide dip, where XRP’s price hit a low of below $1. Currently, it struggles to break above the $2.50 mark. Whale activity in the market indicates possible forthcoming price reductions, adding to an air of caution amongst analysts.
