Ethereum Foundation's Key Researcher Dankrad Feist Joins Stripe's Tempo Team
Dankrad Feist, noted for his contributions at the Ethereum Foundation, has announced his transition to Stripe's Tempo blockchain team while retaining an advisory role.
Dankrad Feist, a significant developer involved with the Ethereum Foundation, declared his new role with Stripe’s Tempo, a blockchain designed for stablecoin payments. Feist emphasized that both Tempo and Ethereum share foundational values, stating they are mutually beneficial.
He intends to maintain his position as a research adviser at the Ethereum Foundation, offering insights into enhancing the Ethereum network’s scalability, user experience, and its blobs feature, which temporarily holds data to optimize block space.
“Tempo’s open-source technology can easily integrate back into Ethereum, benefiting the entire ecosystem. Ethereum and Tempo are strongly aligned, as they are built with the same permissionless ideals in mind. I look forward to continuing my involvement with the community and advancing Ethereum,” said Feist.
The community’s reactions varied, with some expressing support while others regarded Feist’s move as a loss for Ethereum at a critical time for the ecosystem.
Crypto Community’s Outlook on Tempo Blockchain
The broader crypto community remains split on the need for the Tempo blockchain. Joe Petrich, from the NFT platform Courtyard, remarked that there is no demand for an additional chain.
Devansh Mehta from the Ethereum Foundation also questioned the decision to launch Tempo as an individual blockchain rather than as an Ethereum layer-2 solution. He pointed out that deploying app-specific layer-1 chains can lead to potential centralization and legal risks.
Recent developments amid Ethereum’s evolution have sparked discussions on the implications of its layer-2 solutions for the base layer revenue.
