Hyperliquid Dominates Token Buybacks with $644 Million in 2025
Hyperliquid leads the token buyback market by investing significantly in HYPE, accounting for nearly half of all buybacks this year.
Hyperliquid has set a remarkable precedent in the crypto market by allocating over $644 million for buying back its HYPE tokens in 2025, representing 46% of the total spend on token buybacks this year. This strategic move assures its dominance in the sector.
Highlights of the HYPE buybacks:
- 21.36 million HYPE tokens have been repurchased, approximately 2.1% of the total supply.
- The average monthly buyback is around $65.50 million, with peaks reaching $110.62 million in August.
Comparatively, LayerZero’s recent efforts spent $150 million in September, acquiring 5% of its ZRO supply, albeit as a one-off buyback. In contrast, the broad buyback strategy of Hyperliquid is projected to continually lead the market.
As of now, Pump.fun and Raydium, a DEX, follow closely with their buybacks of $138.17 million and $100.35 million, respectively. This reflects a growing trend within the industry as more projects engage in buybacks to boost value for their holders.
Overall, token buybacks have surged to $1.40 billion in 2025, showing how this financial mechanism is gaining traction as a tool for long-term engagement with investors.
