Ethereum’s Instant Preconfirmation Feature Now Available via New RPC

Ethereum transactions can now be preconfirmed in just 200 milliseconds with a new RPC solution from Primev.

Ethereum transactions can now be preconfirmed in just a fraction of a second, thanks to innovative technology from the Ethereum infrastructure platform, Primev. Their FAST RPC (Remote Procedure Call) enables transactions to be preconfirmed and set for inclusion in blocks in under 200 milliseconds.

This rapid preconfirmation process is crucial for various applications, including Ether (ETH) transfers, smart contract interactions, and minting non-fungible tokens (NFTs) at remarkable speeds.

Key Features of FAST RPC

Preconfirmation serves as an initial notification from a block builder, suggesting that a transaction will likely be included in the next block, whereas block inclusion refers to the actual addition of a transaction into a block.

RPCs like FAST RPC link crypto wallets to blockchain nodes, allowing users to send transactions and interact with decentralized applications.

With a response time of 200 milliseconds, FAST RPC has the potential to compete with high-speed layer 1 blockchains, such as Sui, where confirmations typically occur within a similar timeframe.

Murat Akdeniz, Primev’s founder, demonstrated the technology on X, showcasing an almost instantaneous ETH transfer via the Ethereum wallet MetaMask. He mentioned that the transfer was preconfirmed in 377 milliseconds and recorded in the same block. Akdeniz and his team have dedicated over two years to enhancing Ethereum’s speed and efficiency.

“Ethereum L1 is painfully slow 😩 Can devs PLEASE fix this?!? For 2+ years, the @primev team has been grinding to supercharge Ethereum mainnet. Today: MILLISECOND preconfirmations… ON L1! 🚀”

Considerations for Users

While Primev’s FAST RPC may not have undergone extensive testing at scale yet, it targets users who seek faster transactions without migrating to other blockchain solutions.

Infura and Alchemy dominate the use of RPCs on Ethereum, with substantial node distribution and proven reliability under significant network loads.

In conclusion, Primev’s technology could revolutionize the Ethereum ecosystem by significantly improving transaction speeds, although users should consider the operational readiness of FAST RPC compared to established alternatives.
