Maxine Waters Criticizes Trump's Pardon of Binance Founder CZ

U.S. Representative Maxine Waters condemns President Trump's decision to pardon Binance’s co-founder Changpeng Zhao, alleging corruption and favor trading.

U.S. Representative Maxine Waters has condemned President Donald Trump’s choice to pardon former CEO and co-founder of Binance, Changpeng “CZ” Zhao. Waters described the pardon as a corrupt act favoring individuals in the crypto industry.

Trump issued the pardon citing advice from multiple individuals suggesting that Zhao did not commit any crime. In a statement, Waters stated, “Trump is offering significant favors to crypto wrongdoers while lining his own pockets.”

Waters emphasized that CZ has been involved in dubious dealings, including money laundering linked to serious criminals. She argued that Trump’s pardon exemplifies the ongoing corruption seen under his administration.

Trump’s defense of the pardon claimed it was unjust persecution from the Biden administration, asserting, “It wasn’t a crime; he was attacked wrongfully.”
