Rumble, a video-sharing platform, has announced a partnership with Tether to introduce Bitcoin tipping for content creators, which is expected to roll out by early to mid-December. The announcement came from Rumble’s CEO, Chris Pavlovski, who shared details during the Plan ₿ Forum held in Lugano, Switzerland.
“Right now, we’re in the testing phase [but] we’re going to start rolling that out alongside Tether here in the coming weeks.”
“Actualmente estamos en la fase de pruebas [pero] vamos a comenzar a implementarlo junto con Tether en las próximas semanas.”
Tether’s CEO, Paolo Ardoino, who joined Pavlovski onstage, anticipates the initiative will be fully operational by December, once minor adjustments are made. Rumble’s recent developments are noteworthy given its substantial user base of over 51 million users monthly. The company shared a video of its first Bitcoin tip, which was sent to David Freiheit, a former political candidate in Canada.
This integration is seen as a significant step towards enhancing Bitcoin payment adoption, especially considering the audience size of Rumble and its anti-censorship focus resonating strongly within the Bitcoin community. While institutional adoption has been instrumental in the current Bitcoin surge, widespread payment use has not yet become mainstream.
Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Block, has indicated that without more applications of Bitcoin in daily transactions, it may not achieve its intended role as a decentralized cash system.
The Potential of Bitcoin for Creators Worldwide
Ardoino remarked that Rumble provides a fitting platform for Bitcoin and stablecoin usage, which could benefit both underprivileged communities in emerging markets and users in established economies like the United States.
“You can actually find use cases for Bitcoin and stablecoins that really are going to empower creators, and bring them the security of the fact that they will not be debanked for what they say.”
“Puedes encontrar casos de uso para Bitcoin y stablecoins que realmente empoderarán a los creadores y les proporcionarán la seguridad de que no serán excluidos por lo que dicen.”
In December 2024, Tether had invested $775 million into Rumble, further reflecting their commitment to the platform’s growth in the cryptocurrency domain. Additionally, Rumble is exploring partnerships with crypto payment firm MoonPay to provide users with crypto wallets, which aims to facilitate Bitcoin tips for content creators more seamlessly.
