Elon Musk has officially unveiled Grokipedia, a new online encyclopedia that utilizes AI technology and aims to rival Wikipedia. The launch came with Musk’s critique of Wikipedia’s editorial methods.
In posts on X, Musk proclaimed that Grokipedia is entirely open-source and free for anyone to use, stating its mission is to pursue the truth rigorously. “We won’t achieve perfection, but we will strive for it,” he asserted.
A user on the platform noted a significant difference in how Grokipedia and Wikipedia handled sensitive topics, highlighting George Floyd’s narrative.

Musk had delayed the launch to ensure the content was devoid of “propaganda.” Shortly after going live, Grokipedia experienced technical difficulties but has since resumed full functionality, claiming to host over 885,000 articles.
AI appears to play a pivotal role in Grokipedia, taking charge of content moderation, which distinguishes it from Wikipedia’s volunteer-based model.
Musk elaborated that users could propose content changes, leaving final decisions to the AI, which has already generated approximately one million articles. He has also expressed concerns about Wikipedia’s perceived left-wing bias in the past.
Critics have speculated that Grokipedia may reflect Musk’s views, particularly highlighting editorial disparities between the two platforms.
