Pro-Crypto Organization Endorses Andrew Cuomo for NYC Mayoral Race

Amid the New York City mayoral election, a pro-digital assets group supports Andrew Cuomo's candidacy, emphasizing blockchain and AI initiatives.

As the New York City mayoral election nears, Innovate NY, a political organization advocating for digital assets, has officially endorsed Andrew Cuomo and allocated around $100,000 to support his campaign.

On Tuesday, Innovate NY announced its support for Cuomo, highlighting his agenda which includes topics such as blockchain technology, tokenization, and artificial intelligence. With early voting already underway, the organization, recognized as an independent spender by the New York City Campaign Finance Board, reported receiving approximately $99,500 from six donors through two companies as of Wednesday.

Recent financial disclosures reveal that Innovate NY has invested $30,000 in promotional materials to advocate for Cuomo while simultaneously opposing Zohran Mamdani, the leading Democratic candidate according to various polls, in the upcoming election.

This mayoral campaign has garnered considerable interest from the crypto sector due to the election’s implications on businesses in the nation’s largest financial center. The electorate will choose between frontrunners Cuomos, Mamdani, and Curtis Sliwa on November 4.

In the waning days of his campaign, Cuomo has been reaching out to crypto-friendly voters, promising to establish an Innovation Council with committees dedicated to cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence, and biotech if he is elected. Contrary to this, Mamdani has remained focused on cost-of-living issues like childcare and affordable housing, largely sidelining digital asset discussions during his campaign.

Mayor Eric Adams’ Final Crypto Initiative

Since taking office in 2022, Eric Adams has taken notable steps to promote crypto and blockchain initiatives in his last term. His tenure includes hosting a crypto summit, creating a digital advisory council, advocating for Bitcoin-backed bonds, and signing an executive order to initiate a digital assets and blockchain office.

In September, Adams stated he would not seek reelection despite having the backing of crypto entrepreneur Brock Pierce during his campaign. The new mayor will assume office on January 1, 2026.
