The Bitcoin education initiative My First Bitcoin is concluding its collaboration with the El Salvador Ministry of Education. It will transition from teaching local students to a global outreach, aimed at educating educators worldwide.

Founded by American John Dennehy in El Salvador, the initiative has educated over 27,000 local students in Bitcoin. It now aims to support international education efforts through open-source materials and training resources.

In a statement released on Friday, the organization revealed plans to close its physical office in El Salvador while adopting a fully remote work model.

“Our ambition was always to change the world, but we had to start with a single student, then a single city, then a single nation and now we are ready to raise the potential impact from 6 million people to 8 billion,” said founder John Dennehy.

Initially established as a nonprofit in 2021, My First Bitcoin previously collaborated with El Salvador’s Ministry of Education to integrate Bitcoin education into public schools. Arnold Hubach, the director of communications, noted that the partnership ended in April 2025, without any specific reason given.

This shift aligns with El Salvador’s reassessment of its Bitcoin policies, following an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
