Satlantis has unveiled a new Bitcoin-native ticketing platform that utilizes integrated Lightning wallets in user accounts. This innovation allows event organizers to facilitate ticket sales and accept Bitcoin (BTC) payments without needing conventional payment systems.
In a statement, the platform was likened to services such as Luma and Eventbrite, as it provides features like ticket tiers, attendee management, and event page creation. Notably, each event receives a unique BTC wallet to enhance payment processes.
In addition to its Bitcoin functionalities, Satlantis collaborates with Stripe for handling fiat transactions and plans to support stablecoins. This offers event organizers a versatile payment solution through a single interface.
The company emphasizes its model could lower ticketing fees and improve accessibility in regions where conventional payment options are unavailable. The implementation of Bitcoin’s Lightning Network enables efficient, cost-effective cross-border transactions.
Recent data indicates that the Lightning Network’s transaction volume was estimated at $1.1 billion across 5.2 million transactions.
The integration of cryptocurrency into ticketing has been an ongoing trend, with various sports teams embracing digital currency for ticket purchases over the past years. For instance, the Sacramento Kings were the first NBA team to acknowledge Bitcoin in 2014, followed by the Dallas Mavericks in 2019 under owner Mark Cuban’s direction.
Organizations are also experimenting with innovative financing methods for live events, exploring blockchain solutions to transform tickets into tokenized assets, enhancing fundraising capabilities.
As the landscape of ticketing continues to evolve, developments like those from Satlantis are paving the way for broader cryptocurrency adoption.
