Biden Thanks Nigerian President for Binance Executive’s Release

President Joe Biden called Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday to express gratitude for the release of Tigran Gambaryan, a detained executive at Binance.

In their conversation, Biden praised the establishment of a new bilateral working group concentrating on crime concerning cryptocurrency and other illicit financial matters.

Gambaryan, who had been detained for eight months amid accusations of money laundering and tax evasion, was released on humanitarian grounds. His health had significantly worsened during his incarceration in Nigeria's Kuje Prison, where he faced various health challenges.

Biden's office emphasized the importance of the U.S.-Nigeria alliance citing collaboration between the two nations in tackling global issues, particularly those related to law enforcement and cryptocurrency.
