Starknet Sets New Record for Transaction Speed Among Ethereum Layer-2 Platforms
Starknet announces its impressive transaction speed record, eclipsing previous benchmarks set by other networks.
Starknet, a zero-knowledge rollup, announced it has set a new record for transactions per second (TPS) on Ethereum's layer-2 networks.
According to their team, Starknet achieved "a max TPS of 127.5 over the past 24 hours," surpassing Coinbase's Base which previously held the record at 79.92 TPS.
This milestone was reached during a gaming stress test, described as a 'dress rehearsal for mass use via L2s.' During this event, a staggering 11 million daily transactions were recorded, peaking at an impressive 857 TPS.
The achievement places Starknet as a leading contender in the development of layer-2 solutions built on Ethereum. However, it is still significantly behind competitors like Base, with Starknet's total value locked (TVL) currently at $235.7 million compared to Base's $2.64 billion.
While Starknet focuses on speed and interoperability, it also emphasizes the importance of decentralized structures, a key aspect in the blockchain sector. The recent stress test and other metrics will be crucial as Starknet continues to evolve in the competitive layer-2 landscape.
