Zama, the cryptography company behind the Zama Confidential Blockchain Protocol, has announced the acquisition of KKRT Labs, a specialized research firm focusing on scaling blockchains using Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs). This deal will enhance Zama’s capabilities in blockchain scalability and confidentiality.
Unlocking the Next Phase of Scalable On-Chain Confidentiality
KKRT Labs, renowned for its high-performance proving architectures, is backed by notable investors like Vitalik Buterin. This team aspires to build scalable, efficient proving engines tailored for Ethereum-compatible chains.
Together, Zama and KKRT Labs aim to facilitate over 10,000 confidential transactions per second across blockchains like Ethereum and Solana, enabling crucial financial applications such as private stablecoin payments and asset management.
“KKRT Labs has assembled one of the best ZK-rollup teams in the world,” said Rand Hindi, CEO at Zama. “Together, we will scale faster and reach new levels of performance, bringing the Zama Protocol to tens of thousands of transactions per second.”
Integration, Growth, and Future Roadmap
The merger highlights a commitment to open-source innovation and confidential infrastructure. Zama is set to ensure a smooth transition for KKRT’s engineers and integrate their ongoing projects into its broader strategy with minimal disruptions.
Vitalik Buterin stated, “Kakarot has significantly advanced cryptographic technologies in Ethereum, and I am eager to see what they accomplish next.”
Zama’s strategic partnership with KKRT Labs reinforces its mission to overcome the barriers to confidentiality in blockchain technology.
